Purpose of Move.
1. block SEC from taking other power teams
2. Build a better Conference than SEC
3. Stop the building of one mega conference that dominates all
Plan:
Take the, roughly, eight best teams from the B10, PAC, and ACC. (Maybe seven from the PAC and invite ND) Form a 24 member conference. Split the conference into four six team divisions. Each division can play five games in division and 6 games from another division, and one OOC game. Each team would play every team in the conference once every three years. Conference Championship could be a four team playoff and the champion play the SEC champion. I would keep the B10 Network, and the ACC Network (renegotiated if ESPN wants to be a part). I think this league could fill two networks just as the NFL is on multiple networks. Turn off the life support to the PAC network. Make boat loads of money, especially from the four team playoff. And laugh at the SEC.
Biggest Challenge would be making teams happy as you form the four divisions. Also, to get the best teams you might need to adjust the number from each conference up or down from eight.
Also, I assume GOR would not effect this move since a majority of teams would be leaving each conference, thereby nullifying the GOR. That might not be a correct assumption.
Here is what this idea could look like for the ACC and VT
The eight teams from the ACC would be split up. Six in one division. Two joining four B10 teams in another division. So you could have:
Division 1:
Miami, FSU, Clemson, UNC, NC State, GT.
Division 2:
UVA, VT, MD, PSU, Ohio St, Indiana.
Every Third year VT's schedule would include:
Miami, FSU, Clemson, UNC, NC State, GT, UVA, MD, PSU, Ohio St, Indiana. And a cupcake
The other two years would be full of other B10 and PAC teams.
That would bring in some TV money. And you could sell some tickets
Another Plus, Unless you replace GT with Louisville, Louisville gets left out in the shuffle. Call it Karma.
